Waskoll: sophisticated excellence of Haute Joaillerie

Being a proud member of the comity Vendome, Waskoll is undoubtedly considered one of the prestigious Jewellery Houses that goes back several generations. Situated in the very heart of Paris, City of Lights, the Maison Waskoll, nowadays headed by brothers Cyril and Kirk Waskoll, creates unique high end jewelry, satisfying even the most demanding clientele. Following the passion to the art of jewellery making, constantly seeking rare precious gems and mounting them in noble metals, they create timeless adornments, that delicately reflect the traditional and the contemporary in the field of Haute Joaillerie. In our exclusive interview with Pierre Waskoll, the son of Cyrill Waskoll, find out more about the sophisticated excellence of Haute Joaillerie signed by Waskoll Joaillerie.

L.C.: Can you introduce yourself, your work and your world?

P.W.: I’m a representative of the 4th generation of Waskoll family, the son of Cyril Waskoll. First we have started as jewelry manufacturer, working mostly for the houses located on the illustrious Place Vendome. Afterwards we decided to have our own boutique, that has situated on 19 Rue de la Paix since many years.

L.C.: What are your sources of inspiration for creating unique jewellery?

P.W.: The first source of inspiration is undoubtedly the stone itself. It is the mount that is made for the stone and not vice versa. Each stone is different, each has its own features. Of course everything that surrounds us also remains an important source of inspiration.

L.C.: What is (are) your favorite stone(s)? Why?

P.W.: We love to work with sapphire especially natural blue sapphire, which is distinguished with its mystery, profoundness, vivacity. This gem mostly inspires us to create our unique collections.

L.C.: What are the distinguishing traits of Waskoll  jewels?

P.W.: Everything we have created over the years, and all you see here is thanks to our originality. We never seek unique clients, every single client is very important for us and we always try to satisfy each of our clients, respecting the traditional canons of jewellery.

L.C.:  Is there a piece that particularly symbolizes your Maison?

P.W.: We have two collections that were created in 1985 when launching the brand Waskoll Joaillerie. “Wave”, “Flame” reflect precious facets of our style, enchanting the beauty of our favourite multicolour and blue sapphire used in parures.

L.C.: You have participated at the Baselworld Show  for more than 20 years. How do you find this exhibition?

P.W.: 24 consecutive years we have participated at the Baselworld Show. Personally I attended it last two years. Definitely it is the most acclaimed fair where all prestigious jewellery Maisons and luxury timepieces companies showcase their latest collections and unique pieces. So do we, receiving our clients, showing them every time the latest and most original creations we have made properly for the Show.

L.C.: Who are your clients? Do you have Russian clients?

P.W.: We have some Russian private clients. But mostly our clients are from France, either private or dealers, who sells our jewellery in the country.

L.C.: What are the keys to success in this peculiar field of exclusive Haute Joaillerie ?

P.W.: The selection of gems. We insist on the quality of stones, on the quality of the fabrication. Our success is based on the respect to our clients. And undoubtedly the supreme quality of our jewellery is the key factor of our success.

L.C.: The most valuable lesson you have learned until today?

P.W.: It’s a little bit complicated. Because we always study. Probably the most important is how to comunicate with a client, relationship with clients; each of them is different, so you have to find the right approach to everyone. Every person has his own idea in mind, and it depends on you how to satisfy their desire. You have to never lose “a client”, if it’s about business. Generally in life it is the same. You should never give up whatever it is.

L.C.: Your motto?

P.W.: I think -to be honest. Honesty is probably the most important feature for me. Be honest with yourself, with family, with clients.
