TEFAF Maastricht is the world’s leading event of it’s kind, renowned for its commitment to excellence, expertise and elegance. This is reflected not only in the magnificent range of rare works that are offered sale at the Fair, also in the number of art collectors, both private and institutional that regard TEFAF as a must-see event in the art market calendar. Every year TEFAF admired his public with its most exquisite chef d’oeuvres –a plenty of never-seen-before masterpieces in different sectors from old masters paintings, sculptures, oriental arts to jewellery.
The prestigious Hemmerle Jewellery House has been highlighted at TEFAF amongst others in the Haute Joaillerie sector.
Hemmerle has showcased the collections at TEFAF for the 19th time. New exhibition –stand was presented at the fair featuring a sculptural structure designed by the Dutch architect Tom Postma in collaboration with Hemmerle, combining urbane modernity and innovative engineering. Over 3000 American walnut-wood rods, each individually crafted and connected to over 16,500 uniquely engineered aluminum rods, form 16 individual, multilayered screens that appear to float in the air.
A tradition, expertise and craftsmanship in the field of jewellery are handed down through the generations in the Hemmerle family. The company was established in 1893 by brothers Joseph and Anton Hemmerle in Munich. Distinguishing with their unique approach to design and exceptional workmanship, they soon managed to become an official purveyor to the royal Bavarian court.
Nowadays Stefan, his wife Silveli and their son Christian rule the company which is a leading name in Made in Germany jewellery. They needed to express themselves through their own creations and instinctively over the years have developped their own distinctive signature style: strong forthright, self-confident feminine jewels that mix classicism of form and reference with modernity and individuality. The 15 artisan workshop which operates under their guidance at the elegant Maximilianstrasse, Munich flagship forges these outstanding creations- each one a testament to the sophisticated essence and timeless modernity that defines Hemmerle. Every item in the Hemmerle collections is the fruit of a long journey, starting with the stones cutting and ending up in the workshop where gems and metals are handcrafted by artisans capable of expressing, indeed interpreting the quintessential spirit of such materials. The jewels are characterized by their purity of design, focus on detail and above all by their highly original juxtaposition of stones –precious or semi-precious –using unique and sophisticated techniques that breathe life and poetry into every piece.
During the TEFAF Maastricht 2016 Hemmerle introduced to the most exquisite coterie of collectors and connoisseurs [Al] Project-a new series of jewels unveiling the unique characteristics of the metal through innovative design and exquisite craftsmanship. The collection included 15 pairs of earrings and a brooch inspired by nature, minimalism and geometry. Due to the process of anodizing aluminium has been created in a variety of hues that complements the natural colour of rare precious and semiprecious gemstones-tourmalines, beryls, garnets, diamonds meticulously handcrafted to reflect the Maison’s signature style .
“Aluminium is a metal with a rich history, once the most valuable and sought after material in the world, it went on to become used in almost every aspect of human life”, emphasized Christian Hemmerle.
