The Biennale des Antiquaires , an important antique and jewellery exhibition, helding biannually in Paris, ended 18th September. In 2017 it will return as an annual affair, highlighting all spheres of the art, antiquary including certainly Haute Joaillerie. From 10th  till 18th September 113 eminent antique galleries from 32 countries exhibited their chefs d’oeuvres. Compared to the previous exhibition where 14 high jewellery houses participated: Cartier, Boucheron, VCA, Bulgari, Wallace Chan and others, this year only  four high jewellery brands showcased their new one-off pieces at the nine day show. Among them to mention:  De Grisogono, previous exhibitor and newcomers: Cindy Chao, Boghossian, Nirav Modi.

Surprisingly the participation of Cindy Chao that for the first time unveiled her high jewellery pieces open to a public. The taiwanese jewellery artist is famous for her unique distinctive style: her pieces transmit life and emotions, being constructed using 3D sculptural dimension. Every item is created under the supervision of Cindy Chao, carefully handcrafted by highly skilled artisans. Her jewels are to be admired from 360 degrees: the back is always as exquisite as the front. According to Cindy Chao, the vitality is a crucial point that characterizes her unique works of art. Cindy Chao displayed her latest “Black Label Masterpiece” pieces which will be a great addition to the unique treasures for the most sophisticated collectors and clients. The collection includes a unique “Winter Leaves” necklace comprising of 240 cts of diamonds delicately mounted on titanium that is a very strong metal which allows to reduce weight. The necklace perfectly harmonizes titanium and gems showcasing natural appeal of the jewel which has become Cindy Chao’s signature style .

De Grisogono, distinguishing with its audacious beauty and never ending extravagance in terms of design, but with exceptional, impeccable craftsmanship delighted the visitors with some new spectacular high end pieces with large precious stones of significant importance. The highlight of the exhibition was the newest acquisition of Fawaz Gruosi Constellation diamond, the most expensive rough diamond weighing 813carat of pure rarity. The unique of its own diamond was unearthed in Karowe mine by Lucara Diamond back in November 2015and was successfully sold for $63 million in May 2016. It is expected that the cutting process, due to be completed by the middle of 2017, may unveil one of the world’s largest certified flawless diamonds.

Geneva-based Boghossian never stops to impress the public with its jaw-dropping pieces. Boghossian family, originated from Armenia, always seeking perfection, observing every detail of a jewel, enhancing unique gems in various colour combinations.The never seen before jewels are undoubtedly collectibles. Among the stunning items displayed at the biennale des antiquaires in Paris one is highlighted : Imperial Jadeite beads necklace featuring unique chestnuts- sized jade beads deriving from Qing dynasty, dazzled with its unique verdant light that definitely could not leave anyone indifferent. The use of original combinations of colour and texture is also Boghossian’s signature style about which another important items witness : ring and matching earrings made of flower carved milky-blue nephrite with fascinating neon Paraiba tourmalines set in it.

It is a truly spectacular piece, a three-strand necklace of graduated emerald beads totalling 873 carats, complemented by oval and pear jasmine cut diamonds of 146 carats, that definitely reveals  the grandeur of the Maharajas. You can also admire the show-stopping jewels by Nirav Modi at his first european newly opened boutique on Old Bond Street in London.
